FAQ - Products

My quick answer: Puppy Poop Hole.

The longer answer: It depends.

The Puppy Poop Hole addresses every concern (Particularly in Upstate SC): Clay soil, cool winter temperatures, and maintenance requirements.

Essentially you expect that the Puppy Poop Hole will fill up within a few years and you just simply dig another hole, using the same concrete Top and Lid. The Puppy Poop Hole is functional regardless of the soil so long as your Puppy Poop Hole doesn’t maintain water at about 10 inches from the top. You just use the same setbacks as home septic systems for wells, streams, and lakes.

You can treat the Puppy Poop Hole just as the Doggie Dooley, by adding water (water helps the microbes work and work faster). Some of our clay soils will hold water in the 4 Ft hole, especially in the winter time, and this actually helps break down poop. Ground temperature below the frost line, which is less than 12 inches in all of SC, is about 55 degrees. This basically means that microbes will be working pretty much year-round. Water and working microbes will extend the life of your Puppy Poop Hole.

The Doggie Dooley could be the better option for you if your soil is ideal and you want a longer life from one installed system. This system does require more maintenance—mostly adding water. This system is more akin to a home septic system.

If you’re considering the Puppy Poop Hole:

Dig a hole 1 foot wide by 2 feet deep. Fill the hole with water to within 6 inches of the top. Check the hole in 24 hours. If the water line is 12 inches or further from the top your Puppy Poop Hole will work. Almost every yard will accommodate a Puppy Poop Hole!

If you’re considering the Doggie Dooley here is their recommendation:

The Doggie Dooley can be used in all 48 continental united states, as long as your yard is eligible for this item’s installation. To see if a Doggie Dooley will be effective in your yard, dig a hole approximately 1 foot wide by 2 feet deep. Pour approximately 5 gallons of water into the hole, and then check the hole in 24 hours. If water is completely drained, you have fairly sandy soil and a pyramid-style Doggie Dooley is recommended. If there is still standing water, check again after 48 hours. If the water is gone, you can use either the tank or pyramid styles of Doggie Dooley. If after 48 total hours, there is still standing water in the hole, a Doggie Dooley will not be an effective waste management system in that location of your yard.

About 6 to 8 inches from the top is time to close this Puppy Poop Hole and install another.

The top is an 18-1/2 inch concrete circle with a 6 inch center hole.

The color is concrete, but can be stained.

Not hardly.

This method is much less smelly (and to me more sanitary), than collecting poop with handheld bags and storing it for trash pick up.

Obviously collecting and depositing poop is a smelly job, but when the lid is on there is no smell.

Typically 1 to 4 years for the Puppy Poop Hole and 2 to many years for the Doggie Dooley.

This obviously depends on factors like the the depth of the hole, number of dogs you have, the soil, and maintenance.

Yes, but they are not toys and sensible caution prevail.

Your dogs are already pooping in your yard and introducing all the things; bacteria and pathogens, that exist in poop. When you put poop in the poop hole you are feeding an established crowd of hungry microorganisms in an environment where they thrive (and your sparing the landfills). These microbes break down the poop and the liquid is absorbed into the soil and further purified (uncollected poop in your yard is much more hazardous, and the Puppy Poop Hole makes collection cleaner, faster, and easier).

Consider:

  • Home septic systems all around us
  • Military latrines
  • Developing countries that improve health and reduce disease with the use of septic systems and burying poop
  • The sense and safety of burying poop is not a new idea

The top and lid of the Puppy Poop Hole are concrete—the lid is light enough to slide but heavy enough to stay put.

The Doggie Dooley has a foot-operated top raiser.

The poop hole is not a toy, but an open lid discourages kid’s interest anyway.

FAQ - Service

Let us know you want one of our products/services.

If it involves digging we’ll contact 811 (Call Before You Dig), to have utilities marked.

This can typically take up to 3 business days.

Depending on the product/service the actual installation should be started and completed on the same day.

Great care is taken to be neat and clean. No large yard damaging equipment is used.

For digging projects tarps and receptacles are used to contain dirt and protect areas not part of “the project”.

Dirt removed from project areas can be left on site or removed from site.

As of March 2023, NO.

I do provide you with a Hold Harmless Agreement that protects you should anything happen to me on your property.

I personally have loved the Puppy Poop Hole, but I don’t know at this time whether there is enough demand for these services to get a business “fully set up” or not, so right now I’m testing market demand.

We  guarantee the workmanship of all our services. If you’re unhappy we’ll uninstall them in the first 90 days and refund your money.
